Purpose of BadgerLaw.net:
BadgerLaw.net is maintained by Legal Action of Wisconsin, Inc. with funds from the Legal Services Corporation and other sources to help serve low-income residents of Wisconsin. It has a "public" side available to any user of the internet which contains general legal information and referral sources. The "public" web site is intended for non-lawyers.
BadgerLaw.net also has a separate component for registered users which is intended for use only by attorneys and other advocates. The purpose of this "advocates' portal" is to share information among public interest and pro bono lawyers, volunteers, and community based organizations serving low income communities. Registered users may post news and announcements, calendar events, and submit documents to the "library" for others to use. Registering is your good faith representation that some part of your work benefits low-income persons. Because Legal Action of Wisconsin, Inc. is funded in part by the Legal Services Corporation, it reserves the right to deny or revoke registration for any user who, in the sole discretion of Legal Action of Wisconsin Inc., has an insufficiently demonstrated representation of person within eligibility guidelines of the Legal Services Corporation or violates the Legal Services Corporation Act, its implementing regulations or is otherwise inappropriate.
